The Game of Life (OctPoWriMo Entry #17)

The Game of Life

I always wanted the green car,
children spilling out on either side,
a clashing collection of connection,
a tumble of pastel plastics.
For kicks I suppose,
each clickety
spin of the dial
a trial of anticipation,
frustration, bets running
on the number board.

The game is not
over yet.

Poet's Note:  The prompt was to revisit the games we played in childhood.  I was (and am) a huge fan of board games.  And Life was my favorite!

  1. Amen, and let the game continue! We used to play this with our kids, and it was so gratifying to learn that as adults they still play it.

Great line: "a tumble of pastel plastics."

    Thank you. xoA
